Nissan GTR

The production version of the Nissan GTR was debuted at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, launching in Japan on December 6th, 2007 and in the USA on July 7th, 2008. Prior to this the concept was unveiled at the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show as a preview of what a 21st-century GT-R would look like and then was redesigned for the same show in 2005, which stated 80% of the production model features would follow the concept.

This amazing car was described by Jeremy Clarkson as one of the best cars in the world and has won dozens of plaudits. Its price, set against its competitors, was excellent value for money and, as with previous generations of GTRs, it is made for tuning!

We offer a wide range of additional services for your car, so whether you want to take it to a track day or simply improve its overall condition and performance, here are some of the services we offer.

Dyno at Abbey Motorsport

Dyno

We have an in-house 2wd and 4wd Dynapack Hub Dynamometer with a purpose built, remote controlled air induction and extraction system – capable of over 2,000 BHP. With this advanced piece of equipment on-site, we can offer:

  • Dyno run: To establish how the car is running and gain base data - this identifies areas for possible improvements with fine tuning.
  • Running in: Put some miles on that brand new, rebuilt engine. This is done in a controlled environment with variables constantly monitored.
  • Tuning: Check and tune your after-market ECU to ensure you're hitting those targets and getting the most from your car.
  • Mapping: Our vast experience enables us to understand and recommend the correct & optimum ECU for your vehicle.
  • ECU calibration: we can supply, fit & calibrate all the premier, standalone ECUs. Stock ECU recalibration is also available for Nissan 350Z / 370Z, R35GTR, Juke & Toyota GT86 / Subaru BRZ using EcuTek & UpRev software.
Injector cleaning at Abbey

Injector cleaning

Modern fuels are a complex blend of hydrocarbons and additives, many of which evaporate at different temperatures. Each time a hot engine is shutdown (heat soak), a small amount of gasoline is left on the tip of the each injector. Since the engine temperature is now above 200 degrees Fahrenheit, the more volatile compounds in the fuel evaporates and the less volatile elements dry on the injector tip and form solids. As time goes on, these accumulations grow and start affecting the injector spray pattern and fuel distribution.

Both turbo and supercharged engines are very tough on injectors. This is due to the higher intake temperatures and turbo oil getting past the seals where it deposits on the injector tips.

Older engines with worn rings and valve guides also contribute to the build-up. This blow-by gets introduced into the intake by the PCV system.

Failure to change the fuel filter and allowing moisture in the gas tank both have detrimental effects on the injectors. Rust can deposit itself below the injector filter and can cause serious problems.

Suspension set up at Abbey Motorsport

Suspension

Wheel alignment is an important, and often overlooked aspect of maintenance. A poorly set-up car is at best, ruining your driving enjoyment and at worst, unsafe. Pot holes and kerbs can easily change the alignment of your wheels, causing a poor handling car, and excessive wear on your tyres. For these reasons, we recommend checking the wheel alignment on your car on an annual basis.

We use Snap On fully digitised, four wheel, laser alignment tools and software coupled with our database. This allows us to find the correct geometry settings for almost every car in UK and Europe.

With this tool, we can set the geometry of nearly any car to suit the usage your vehicle will experience, from road, to track, to race. You would be surprised by the benefits we can find for you, when we simply reconfigure your car's suspension back to standard geometry settings. We also have digital corner weighting scales. With this we can adjust the static weight distribution.

What are the benefits of correctly configuring your suspension?

Refreshing the bottom-end of an engine can add many years to its life, and even find increases in horsepower and performance, not to mention give you added peace of mind.

Hunter wheel alignment

Hunter Wheel Alignment

Our Hunter wheel alignment service accurately measures up to 14 primary wheel angles and compares them with the original specifications detailed by your car manufacturer.

At Abbey Motorsport, we can correct any differences found by adjusting your car’s steering and suspension settings, altogether improving your driving experience and safety by maximising your fuel efficiency and reducing any uneven tyre wear.
